CLANS / ALLEGIANCES✦ EVECLAN - (Orin) Eveclan territory stretches across a rocky alpine moor with canyons and scarce, winding rivers. Arid and cool, hidden from the ocean's wet air by a mountain range, for all but a few peak days of summer, the sky tends to look somewhat grey. Occasional snow.The estuary holds the only place with any real precipitation or warmth. The middle to eastward streams are fresh and ripe for drinking, though the western half is largely too brackish for consumption. The rocks still make a nice area for sunning, though, and prey is rich along the whole region.✦ GROVECLAN - (Seft) Groveclan lives across a warm, coniferous woodland rich with vegetation. With cold air blowing in from the western coast met with rolling clouds and water from the northern mountains, the land is usually covered in snow and largely uninhabitable in the winter to other clan cats. These cats are highly adept in specified hunting small voles and snow hares, with keen eyes to spot them among the snow.✦ HILLCLAN - (misc.) Hillclan covers the largest stretch of land and has the most cats, though they are quite spread out in pockets amounst the valleys and bundled against the lakeside.The upper territory is cool and mountainous, but further down it quickly becomes warm, rolling hills that mark the territory. It's easy living.✦ DUNECLAN - (Pyla) A territory largely comprised of shallow brush and large clay and sand crags. Its a warm place with frigid nights, but the den systems amoung the canyons and crags make a comfortable lull between the extremes.✦ DRIFTCLAN - (the Outskirts/misc small planets) Across a sprawling stretch of coastline, the land varies from rocky, coniferous plains to coastal scrubland and beaches. The land is known to harbour a number of rogues, but the clan itself is already so unorganized that some rogue cats are more clan-like than some clan cats.✦ THE EMBERROUGES - (Nova's group) This group is decentralized, living along the outskirts of clan territories, especially DriftClan. They have a 'camp' of sorts in a discreet canyon south of Duneclan territory.✦ DAYCLAN - (the Alliance/rebellion) The clan thought to be long dead lives in secrecy in a hidden coastal cave system. It's full of complex turns. It's hard to follow without a guide. It's dark. But your eyes adjust, and holes amoung the cave roof let in ample light, in some spots. The threat of floods hold ever potential danger in the lower caves, but it also keeps their home so hidden from the outside clans.✦ ROUGES - Most rouges and loners are run out of the territories, but a number still manage to bounce around or hang at the outskirts.

Succession (also known by endless other titles) was the project that sentenced me to the eternal madness and joy that is being, as an unshakable core aspect of my soul, a writer.I started writing this story around 2016 when it spawned out of various other stories I'd loosely crafted in my head growing up. The story evolved greatly from its original conception, but the process was so gradual and natural (ironically mirroring the current title) that to me it's always been one continuous WIP.I quickly found myself catching up with the characters once a few years older than me as I grew up. 13, then 14, 15, and 16, and 17, and suddenly I'm entering my 20's still holding these same friends in my mind and heart. This story, in any of its forms, will never leave me. It's just something I must tell! No matter how many variations.

Alys existed before the story did. She was first "Alice" in a mermaid story I wrote in like 4th grade that later morphed into weredogs and somehow eventually into whatever it is today.
For a long time the story was in a modern setting where a secret community of weredogs were fighting the government.
Karolina had a partner named Hali in a previous concept. I probably killed her I don't remember.
Jaden did die in a draft! I KILLED HER >:) The most painful thing I've ever written. She lives in this current draft(?)
